FAQ

Straight answers.

We'd rather explain how the service works than pretend it's magic. Ask our team anything.

Are your estimates actually accurate?
Yes — as accurate as the quotes behind them. We match your request with comparable projects (region, area, finish level) from the last 18 months and show a realistic range, not a magic number. On high-variance projects (high-end kitchens, complex additions), Alex says so plainly.
How do you verify contractors?
Every contractor in the network must provide a valid RBQ number. We check the Régie du bâtiment registration, cross-check the business address, and monitor public Google reviews. Quotes that contractors upload are anonymized before Alex uses them.
Does my information stay private?
For an estimate with Alex, we use the project type, the description, the area when it applies, and only the first three characters of your postal code (e.g. H2X) — not your full address. Your name, phone and email are collected only if you choose to be put in touch: with your explicit consent, we send them, with your project summary, only to the contractors you select. Without that step, your contact details are not shared. See our privacy policy.
How much does it cost?
Free for individuals — always. Partner contractors pay a $100 CAD monthly subscription to be listed and receive your quote requests.
Do you cover all of Quebec?
The service aims to cover all of Quebec, but contractor availability varies by region. Alex suggests up to three verified RBQ contractors whose business is within a 60-minute drive of your postal area. If none match your project type, Alex says so and no request is sent. Response times then depend on each contractor you contact.
How do I become a partner contractor?
Create your account on the contractor login page, provide your RBQ number and upload a few historical quotes. Our team reviews your file within 48 hours, then your profile appears in Alex's recommendations for clients within a 60-minute radius.
